How to Arm Knit Step by Step: Part 1 – How to Make a Slip Knot

What You Need:

This scarf is a really quick and easy project. You’ll only need about an hour of time, a little practice, and of course, your two arms. I’ve found the best results in using two strands of bulky yarn at the same time. Here are a few of the bulky weight yarns I recommend:

You’ll need two skeins of bulky yarn at approximately 100 yards each.

Arm Knit Infinity Scarf Cowl Measurements

The infinity scarf/cowl is the best project to start when learning how to arm knit.

Your finished scarf/cowl will measure approximately 60″ long (before joining) and 12″ wide.

How to Arm Knit Instructions: Part 1

Step 1: With two strands of Yarn, pull out about 4′ of yarn (this is your “tail”).

Step 2: To begin making a slip knot, form a circle with the yarn.

Step 3: Grab the strand closest to the skein (the working yarn) and pull it up through the bottom of the circle to form a loop.

Step 4: Slip your right arm through the loop. Not too tight though. It needs to slide easily on your arm.
