Grab some essential baby items and get rolling! Diaper cakes are a great way to add a creative and highly useful gift at any baby shower.

You can make so many different types of baby diaper cakes based on the theme that the mom-to-be likes. From shabby chic to royal elegance, there are some pretty elaborate and adorable ideas!

1. 3 Tier Woodland Diaper Cake

How adorable is this?! If you have a Cricut machine, you could easily cut out these cute critters on paper!

2. Pink Elephant Diaper Cake

This one almost doesn’t even look like a diaper cake because they wrapped each layer in either a baby blanket or crib sheet!

I love the addition of the stuffed animal topper, socks, and other baby accessories.

3. Jungle Theme Diaper Cake

The cute little foam jungle animals set this diaper cake off. How easy would this be to make?!

4. Choo-Choo Train Diaper Cake

This diaper cake is adorable for either a boy or a girl! You could “hide” a lot of goodies within the train too!

5. Airplane Monkey Diaper Cake

Here is an example of rolling diapers and layering diapers as both methods are used in this cake.

6. Nautical Diaper Cake

The boat shoes are so adorable on this cake! 🙂 I love the giant whale on top too!

Again, you can’t even tell that this is a diaper cake because of the blankets or sheets wrapped around each row (which means you could hide more goodies than just diapers inside).

7. Giraffe Diaper Cakes

This is such a unique idea! I love the non-traditional design and they would look so adorable as table centers for a baby shower!

8. Sleeping Baby Diaper Cake

How creative is this?!

Not sure if the doll is made of diapers too but you could easily buy a lightweight doll and just use some ribbon to hold it on the cake.

9. Little Prince Diaper Cake

I love the simplicity of this cake and the masculine look of it.

Again, with the Cricut machine, you could easily make everything on it!

10. Jeep Diaper Cake

Any Jeep lover will adore this diaper cake at their shower. Also, instead of rolling diapers, they wrapped and layered which enabled them to make this design.

11. Gold Princess Diaper Cake

Who wouldn’t want to giant tutu on their princess diaper cake! It doesn’t get much more adorable than this!

12. Shabby Chic Diaper Cake

I’m partial to the shabby chic, rustic but elegant design so I LOVE this one! All the elements really set it off and make it look beautiful.

How to Make a Baby Diaper Cake

How many diapers should you get to make a diaper cake?

Depending on the size of cake you want, you can use anywhere from 50 to 100 diapers! For a simple example, here is how many diapers you’ll need for a typically three-layered baby diaper cake:

  • 8 diapers for the top layer
  • 15 diapers for the middle layer
  • 30 diapers for the bottom layer
  • 53 total diapers

Remember, if you don’t have enough diapers to fill out your cake as you want, you can always roll up blankets, burp rags, socks, etc. to get the desired amount!

What is the best size diaper to use for a diaper cake?

The best size diaper to use for making a baby diaper cake is size 1. This size diaper is big enough to fill out the cake and also very practical for the new mom to use almost right away.
